Leeton Shire Council has posted out 5000 copies of its "customer satisfaction survey" that aims to gather the thoughts of community members in a variety of different areas.
Among those is the first question that asks residents to rank their most-valued services provided by council, including dog and cat control, the library, road maintenance and more.
Council general manager John Batchelor said the idea was for the community to provide feedback so services could be improved.
"We want to connect with the community so we can then take the information back to council and to staff and work out better ways of working in the future," Mr Batchelor said.
"Council will be looking at the results very carefully.
"We've sent out hard copies, but the survey is also available online, which is where we would prefer people to complete it."
The survey consists of 10 questions and should take no more than five minutes to complete.
"We want to know how people are feeling about the services council provide," Mr Batchelor said.
"The more feedback we get the more issues we will be able to address."
One of the other questions included in the survey asks residents how they feel about a possible merger with Narrandera Shire Council.
"It will be the first time we've actively asked the community for their thoughts on that, so we'll be interested to see those results," Mr Batchelor said.
The survey period is now open, with responses required by 4pm on February 27.
Copies can also be found at the council offices, the library, and the Yanco, Whitton and Murrami post offices or online at www.leeton.nsw.gov.au.
