Narrandera Park continued its reputation as a difficult deck to bat on with eight batsmen failing to trouble the scorers.
Colts won the toss and elected to bowl and captain Mark Burns (5-32) quickly vindicated his decision.
Burns removed opposing captain Lachie Jess (8) and opening partner Lincoln Gooley (8) to expose Narrandera's middle order.
Despite the removal of Craig Acton for one by Jaryd Day (1-19), Narrandera consolidated as Brent Lawrence (31) combined with Rohan Rehwinkle (8) and Tom Robinson (5) to take the score to 72.
It was then that Colts wrested back control of the innings with Burns removing Robinson and Josh Carn (3-16) rattling the stumps of Lawrence.
Burns and Carn renewed their new-ball pairing to dismiss the Carpheads' tail end for the addition of a further 25 runs.
With only a target of 98 for first innings points, Colts' pursuit mirrored that of England's the night before at 2-0 and then 3-9 when Jacob Anderson removed Burns for one.
Nathan Carn (27) took on the scoring mantle and pushed the team total to 36 alongside Jaryd Day.
Anderson then struck again, initially removing Carn followed by Sam Cooper (0) on his way to 4-32.
Day (17no) remained steadfast at the other end but could only watch on as Lawrence (3-8) backed up his effort with the bat by removing the last three batsmen for ducks.
Leeton Soldiers Club could only field nine players for the day, which meant their innings was ended on a score of 51
With first-innings points secured, Narrandera had to face three overs at the end of the day and Robinson's promotion didn't fare well as Josh Carn had him trapped in front first ball of the innings.
This brought Dave Kroek in as nightwatchman and he and Gooley (2no) saw off the remaining 17 deliveries to finish at 1-3.
With a lead of 49 and a week of fine weather ahead, Narrandera will be looking to assume a strong position in their pursuit of an outright win on the second day next week.
