What a fantastic Australia Day that was in our shire.
There was everything from mouth-watering breakfasts and awards honouring our shire’s best to young and old having a great time celebrating the occasion.
Congratulations to all of the Australia Day award recipients and nominees.
These people are the backbone of our great community and deserve every bit of recognition they receive.
Leeton has long been known for its outstanding community groups and individuals that contribute so much.
While there are too many to mention, it is worth noting most of these organisations could do with a helping hand or a fresh face or two.
If you have been thinking about getting involved in a charity, community group or sporting organisation there is no better time than the present.
There’s so much interesting work to be done and the feeling of helping out is second to none.
These are the organisations that not only keep our shire going, but more often than not, support each of us in our time of need.
There are so many examples of good work being done in our community every day, so why not lend a hand where possible?
If it makes the load a little lighter for someone else, but still gives back, I would say it is more than worthwhile.
If you may be interested in signing up or finding out more information, The Irrigator can provide some information through its community services diary, but Leeton Shire Council and the Leeton Visitor Information Centre would also be good places to start.
Now is as good a time as any to get involved in our great shire.
