MARRAR trainer Brian McKelvie was searching for a hat-trick of Riverina cup wins, but will be more than happy to settle for a double as Modern Max lines up in the $10,000 Weston & Weston Leeton Pacers Cup (2582m) Friday night.

After winning the Temora Pacers Cup earlier this month, Modern Max put in a massive effort to run fourth in the Junee Pacers Cup on Sunday.
Modern Max was pushed four-wide when trying to make a early move, before being unable to find the position outside the leader when Nathan Jack kicked up on Indi Bapu.
Driver Adam Jenkins was forced to restrain the son of Modern Art to last before moving onto the pegs.
After the tough trip Modern Max was entitled to closer to last than first, but was still running home late and finished less than a neck from the third-placed The Baggy Green.
McKelvie was very impressed with how he finished off the race, after losing hope following his mid-race move.
"I was very happy with him considering how the race was run to how he finished, as I didn't he could do it," McKelvie said.
"He's come through amazingly well after the run he had."
Leeton's cup doesn't appear to be as strong as the fields he tackled at Temora or Junee, but McKelvie isn't getting too far ahead of himself.
"I don't think it is as strong, but cup races are all hard," McKelvie said.
"On paper it doesn't look as hard, but that doesn't indicate it will be easy."
Modern Max is the only C6 pacer in the race for C3-C6s and will have to contend with a second line draw.
With a preferential barrier draw system in place, McKelvie knew he would draw off the back row and isn't too concerned.
"He had to get that, but I think we should be able to overcome it," McKelvie said.
With the cup run over the longer distance of 2582 metres, Modern Max is the only horse in the nine-horse field that has won a race over the distance range.
Modern Max was brought back to the Riverina after a Sydney campaign with the Temora, Junee and Leeton cups in mind.
