The newly-opened Leeton Multipurpose Community Centre will hold various events throughout this month as part of “featured February” to show-off not just what it has to offer, but also the groups that use it.
Council’s community project officer Jacob Muthsam said there would be an array of activities to suit all needs.
“We’ve had a lot of interest already, which is great,” Mr Muthsam said.
“All of the events are open to anyone and everyone in the community.
“A lot of groups and organisations have got behind the concept, so there’s plenty of interesting things happening.”
Some of those include a writing workshop tomorrow, a presentation of the Leeton Philippines project, a family movie night, Aboriginal arts workshop and opportunities to find out more about different community groups.
Mr Muthsam said there were two reasons behind holding the events.
“The first is to showcase our wonderful new facilities and what we can offer and the second is for community groups to give themselves a bit of promotion too,” Mr Muthsam said.
“Given that it’s the start of the year it’s a good opportunity for people to maybe join one of these groups.”
Programs of the different events can be found throughout town, council or at the community centre.
