Held annually in March, the annual fishing competition is fast becoming one of regional NSW's premier catch and release events.
To be held this year on March 6 to 8 and supported by Bounce, Teerman's Transport Leeton, Leeton Shire Council, Yenda Producers and BCF, the Classic will be based at Gogeldrie Weir and held over 15km of the Murrumbidgee River.
Proceeds from the event are used to restock the Murrumbidgee River system with native fingerlings.
In 2014 alone, over 20,000 fingerlings were released back into the river system over the course of the event.
Whether you consider yourself an expert angler or a novice, the Leeton Bidgee Classic will ensure a great family weekend.
For those on the water, there are thousands of dollars in prizes up for grabs in varying categories.
Some of the prizes to be won over the weekend include a Stacer boat, a camper trailer package and a seven-night resort holiday.
The weekend also features lure casting competitions, activities for the kids, the Super Saturday raffles, live entertainment, Friday night footy on the big screen and much more.
Accommodation is available at Gogeldrie Weir Park during the course of the event – either in ensuite rooms or at the camping grounds.
There are great barbecue facilities, a renovated toilet block, showers and a fully stocked kiosk.
Food across the weekend will also be provided at stalls manned by the shire’s service clubs.
There will be a number of exhibitors at the park, providing the chance to grab some awesome bargains and restock that tackle box.
Due to recent law changes under the Department of Primary Industries, the rules for the Leeton Bidgee Classic have had to be modified.
This year there will be maximum size limit of 75cm for Murray Cod.
Murray Cod caught over 75cm are now classed as an illegal-size, native fish. As a result, anglers will not be permitted to hold on to large, live Murray Cod for measuring.
Any Murray Cod over 75cm must be released immediately and as such wil not be be formally registered at the competition.
