This year Leeton Shire Council and the Leeton Tidy Towns Committee enjoyed more helpers lending a hand on Sunday as part of the event.
Council manager of planning and environment Kelly Tyson was pleased with the turnout.
“Most if it was due to Leeton Public School, which organised about 100 children and parents to take part on the day,” she said.
“We’re very thankful to everyone that helped clean up on the day and the schools that took part during the week. It’s a good initiative and hopefully we can continue to grow it in Leeton shire.”
Areas concentrated on as part of the clean up included Palm and Acacia avenues, as well as the CBD area.
Since Clean Up Australia started 25 years ago it has become the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. Volunteers have put in more than 27.2 million hours.
