Of course we are very lucky to have the opportunity to vote in who we believe would be the best person for the job in our electorate.
However, I have two main issues with this year’s state election.
The first is how large the new Murray electorate is.
This election marks the first time our representative will cover the Murray electorate - not the Murrumbidgee.
My main concern is regardless of who is elected, how does this person feel about representing such a large area and all of its constituents?
Yes, the issues may more or less be the same throughout, but can the person who is elected really give 100 per cent to each city, town or village that makes up that electorate?
My second concern, or rather a bugbear with the election is why is it still impossible to be able to vote online?
I’m all for having your say, but surely there is a more convenient and modern way to do so?
I know the more senior members of our community would still likely prefer to line up on election day and cast their vote.
However, surely we’ve moved ahead in the times to allow for both a digital and in-person way of voting.
