THE semi-finals of the district pairs were played at the Leeton Soldiers Club on Thursday.

Joan Curphey and Norma Shiel from Darlington Point played Judy Heness and Elaine Sullivan from the L&D.
This was a close game with Shiel and Curphey taking the early lead and, on the 14th, were leading 15-13, but Sullivan took seven shots in the next three ends.
L&D took the win 20-16.
The other semi final was between Kathy Elliott and Gwen Vearing from Griffith Exies against the L&D team of Joan Bourke and Kathy Marks.
This too was a close game, with the score on the 15th 11-15, but Elliot and Vearing took 12 shots in the last three ends winning the game 23-11.
The finals were then played between the winning teams.
This was a great match between these teams and on the 12th end the scores were 14-12, but Griffith then took charge of the game.
On the 16th end they were ahead 23-12 even though L&D took one shot on the last two ends, Vearing and Elliott came away the winners 23-14.
This week the district singles will be played at the L&D. Three games will be played in the morning with one game being a forfeit. The semi-finals will be played in the afternoon between the winning players and the finals being played the following week at the L&D.

THIRTEEN ladies enjoyed bowls at the Leeton Soldiers Club last Wednesday.
Winners were Colleen Harrison and Lee Noble. Runners-up were Rhonda McAliece, Shirley Ramponi and Joan Dale.

Names are being taken for the drawn fours, with entries closing on Wednesday.
The draw will take place following bowls. Lunch is on atthe club this week following bowls.
The monthly meeting will be held next Wednesday after bowls. Social bowls starts at 9.30am.

WITH 22 ladies arriving keen to take to the greens at the L&D to enjoy a day of social bowls, it was one happy group of bowlers.
There were three rinks of triples and one rink of pairs, with old and new ladies playing some really great bowls.
Coach Mick Gooley was again available with handy tips that all took advantage of.
The drawn winners of the day were Jan Fitzpatrick, Helen Symes and Dot Semmler.
Social bowls will still be played this week at 9.30am.
The monthly meeting will be held on May 14.
