Phantoms co-coach Liam Ward is expecting a tough game from CSU, who are known each season to a hard task for any side.
“They are always a very well-drilled side,” Ward said.
“CSU are always a hard side to get on top of, but obviously we’ll be aiming for a win.
“We will need to stick to our game plan if that’s going to happen.”
The Phantoms have so far recorded a near perfect start to the Southern Inland Rugby Union competition, with just the one draw the only blemish on an otherwise big start to the year.
Ward said his players weren’t resting on their laurels and each week were competing for selection.
“If someone gets injured they want to be back as soon as possible because they know there is someone breathing down their neck to take their spot,” Ward said.
“It’s a good position to be in. It’s nice to have that depth.”
Last weekend the Phantoms recorded a solid victory over the Wagga Waratahs and Ward is hoping to emulate that form again at Murrumbidgee College on Saturday.
Luke Collins will return to the side and will slot back into the front row.
Ward also singled our young Wilson Feagai as a key playmaker for Saturday’s match.
“He played a phenomenal game last weekend, so we’re expecting big things from him,” Ward said.
“Basically as always it will need to be a full team effort.
“If we can have the control and the discipline we will be in with a really good shot.”
Ward said the energy around the playing group and the club as a whole was positive.
However, his side knows to treat each game as a new and different situation.
“We know each week, each Saturday that we need to go out and give 110 per cent,” Ward said.
“Our blokes know they need to turn up each Saturday and play just as well or better than the week before.
“We’re going well at the moment, but it still is early days.”
Ward said if his side were to combat the youthful Reddies side players would need to work together.
“It’s about creating opportunities and chances for yourself and the bloke next to you,” he said.
“Our defence has been outstanding … Seru has been doing an amazing job with the side.
“He’s brought so much to our club and he’s a fantastic guy to have around the club.
“His experience and skill set is second to none. There’s a really good vibe at the moment.”
The Phantoms will host its sponsors day at Murrumbidgee College on Saturday, with first grade kicking off at 3pm.
