Leeton will take on the fourth-placed Tullibigeal Lakes United in their second home match of the year on Sunday.
Last weekend the side showed grit and determination to give the Griffith side and current ladder-leaders a run for their money.
Halden said there were many positives to take from that game.
“I definitely think it has given the boys some confidence,” he said.
“Hopefully that might translate to something on the field again this weekend.
“We showed we could take it up to those top sides.
“It was pleasing to see.
“Our defence was really good, so we definitely took a lot out of that game.”
It has been a tough start to the year for the Greens, with injuries and player unavailability plaguing the first grade side.
“We just don’t seem to have that depth,” Halden said.
“It’s been pretty slim pickings at training (this week).
“I don’t think we’ve had a ‘fresh’ side all year.
“We’ve had to call on reserve grade guys or some of the younger boys to come up to firsts.
“Unfortunately that’s just the way it is.
“You can’t help injuries or if someone is unavailable.”
Halden said his side would need to work on a number of areas if they were to defeat the Sharks.
He said he wouldn’t know until tonight what sort of team he would have to choose from, but was confident the side would push for a maiden win.
“We’re going to have to play a solid 80-minutes of footy,” Halden said.
“We need to be switched on.
“TLU are always a tough side to beat.
“We’re definitely in with a chance.
“We showed that last weekend.
“Obviously we’ll need to start well and not let them in.
“It’s the basics. That’s what it comes down to.
“If you can execute those one and two per centers and complete your sets then you’re in with a chance. If we can do that we will be in with a big chance.”
Halden said while it hadn’t been the best start to the year there were always positives to be taken from each game.
“I think we are improving each week,” he said. “It’s just not being able to have that consistent side.
“Our goal is to be as competitive as possible and push the opposition. All I ask is our guys to give it their best effort. Fingers crossed we can get a win on the board on Sunday.”
