Every year I hear people complaining about having to pay rates for the services Leeton Shire Council provides. 

Adding up the numbers and what we get in return – it’s not really all that much to be handing out. 

Can you imagine what it would be like if we didn’t have these services?

I’m talking no access to water or sewerage. That I could not handle. 

If you don’t want to pay rates I would suggest a trip to a third world country and really experience what living in these conditions are like. 

Comparing how we live to those that live in these countries is amazing. 

We really can count ourselves lucky and we have to pay rates each year in order to that then I will happily hand over the cheque book. 

We complain about the state of our roads and other issues, but have you ever compared these to other places?

I feel we really are in position to complain and should just be counting ourselves lucky that we live in the country we do. 

My the suggestion to the complainers would be to offer up some decent advice on how to provide these services at a lower cost if it’s such a problem.
