The former block was torn down late last year and rebuilt, with the shire’s football codes that access No. 1 Oval finally able to use the new facility for the first time this weekend following the opening.
Leeton Shire Council was granted a subsidy loan last year to the tune of $1 million to pay for the project as part of the Local Infrastructure Renewal Scheme (LIRS).
The loan was used to renovate the amenities block, bringing it more in line with others across the region.
It had been hoped the facility would be finished in time for the start of the football season.
However, due to varying reasons the construction required more time.
The project included the refurbishing and extending of the dressing rooms and now includes public toilet amenities.
The LIRS program has also assisted council in upgrading the former CWA and senior citizens buildings in Wade Avenue, as well as to undertake major work in the Petersham Road precinct.
An official opening ceremony will be held at No.1 Oval on Friday at 3.30pm.
