It was a close game throughout the entirety of the match, but the Hawks were unable to pull away for a victory in the end.
The result will now make it difficult for Yanco-Wamoon to make the finals, but coach Simon Watson said his side would not be giving up hope.
However, he was disappointed with Sunday’s result.
“There were definitely a couple of calls that I thought should have went our way,” Watson said.
“We had two tries disallowed in the second-half … that is just footy though.
“It’s pretty gut-wrenching to know we could have won though.
“West Wyalong are a quality side.
“We were matching it with them.
“If we had of been able to beat them we would be in a much better position.
“Now we will have to win all of our remaining games, but it will also still depend on the results of others.
“However, that’s the hand we’ve been dealt.
“We’ll pick ourselves back up and stay positive.
“That’s all we can do.”
While the game didn’t go the way of the Hawks, Watson said there was plenty to take from it.
“I thought our guys played really well,” he said.
“Everything we had been working on at training was coming off.
“Our attack pushed up really well all game. The talk in defence was also really good.
“When it was really close towards the end there and we’d had the tries disallowed we started to make silly mistakes.
“The boys were throwing everything they had at West Wyalong to stop them from crossing the line, but it was the silly mistakes that let us done.
“However, I am proud of the way they played and the way they took it to West Wyalong.”
Watson said there was now no time to rue what could have been.
“We just need to focus on the the remaining games we have ahead of us,” he said.
The Hawks will hit the training paddock hard again ahead of this Sunday’s clash with Hay.
