Despite being on the bottom of the ladder and playing the reigning premiers, club president Steve Preston said the first grade side gave the game everything.  

“It would have been nice to come away with a win,” he said. “They never stopped trying.

“There were also double ups from reserve grade.”

There were two players unavailable due to injuries, including Jake Stevenson who was out with an ankle injury. Hayden Southgate was also out due to a concussion he sustained in last week’s game.  

Two players from the reserves came off the field and then headed straight back out again to fill in for first grade, according to Preston.  

“It’s been a long year for the boys, but they kept showing up each week,” Preston said. 

Brad McDonell finished the season by celebrating his 100^th first-grade game. 

Coach Clint Halden has said he will not be returning as coach for the 2016 season, due to personal commitments.  

“Clint has done a really good job,” Preston said. “What he has done, especially with the young ones, they all look up to him. 

“He (Halden) has passed his experience onto them.”

It may have been a lackluster season for first-grade and the reserves, but the club experienced success across the board in other grades. 

Preston wished the best for the under 16s who are heading into the first round of semi-finals this weekend.

The club president also congratulated the under 18s and the league tag team for finishing the year as minor premiers. 

“To finish minor premiers, the club is very proud of these teams,” he said. “The 16s and the 18s, they are the future of the club,” he said. 

Despite only winning one game this season, the fans have proved committed to the team. All home games were well attended.
