"There’s going to be so much to see and do here on the day. It’s really exciting. We're looking forward to it."
- Tourism trainee officer Alex Iannelli
The Leeton Visitor Information Centre (LVIC) is set to hold its second Red Carpet Day for the year on September 26.
The innovative event will showcase various Leeton shire producers and creators of different wares.
This month’s event will have a focus on food and fibre that is grown within Leeton shire.
Stallholders will again converge on the LVIC, with as many as 45 expected to take part.
LVIC tourism trainee Alex Iannelli said the event would be an opportunity for residents and visitors alike to sample what is on offer in Leeton shire and surrounds.
“It’s all going to tie in with the Taste Riverina Festival, which showcases local food and wine,” she said.
“The launch of that is happening here in Leeton, so we thought we would tie in with that as well.
“There’s going to be so much to see and do here on the day.
“It’s really exciting.
“We’re looking forward to it.”
Red Carpet Day is a relatively new concept for the LVIC, but has been met with success each time it is held.
Stallholders in their dozens have been clamouring to take part. The aim of the event is to not just showcase what is on offer in the shire, but to also increase participation with the LVIC.
The September event is held during what will hopefully be warmer weather, with a big crowd expected to turn out.
Leeton Shire Council events co-ordinator Alison Egan was hopeful Red Carpet Day would have numerous benefits.
“What we want to see is people coming along and seeing what is here, but then having that translate into more,” she said.
“For example we have many local businesses taking part in this event.
“So we want people to come down and chat to these people about their businesses and find out about them.
“Hopefully that then means they go into shops in town and enjoy a meal or buy something from them there. It’s all about working together to promote what we have here.”
Red Carpet Day will be held at the LVIC from 10am to 3pm.
