The inaugural Whitton town fete was held last Saturday, with various community groups in attendance and making a profit or two on the day.
The Whitton Rural Fire Service had its trucks out for children to look through, as well as a stand offering information and a barbecue running throughout the day.
Other organisations such as the Leeton Lions Club, Whitton Sport and Recreation Committee and the Whitton-Murrami Public School P&C also had events happening on the day and were able to take home a small sum to be used to benefit their communities.
Organisers Suellen Dunbar and Cathy Kefford were pleased with the response on the day.
“The feedback we’ve had has been really great,” Ms Dunbar said.
“People have asked if we will be holding it again next year … we’ll hold a meeting in a couple of weeks and work that out.
“We wanted to do something that would get people interested in Whitton again.
“A lot of people will just drive straight past unless they have a reason to stop in.”
The Whitton Playground also received funds from the stallholders on the day.
As part of the event, Whitton Museum was also opened to the crowd.
