As part of the chamber’s year-round “shop local” campaign it has created and produced a gift card that currently features two iconic landmarks from the town.
The card can be purchased in Leeton and spent at businesses in town that are members of the chamber.
Most retail businesses in the main street are members.
The idea is to give a gift card for Christmas and that money will then be spent in town.
“It’s going to be available all year round,” chamber president Graham Heffer said.
“So, instead of people purchasing gift card for a big corporation for a family member this Christmas, we encourage them to take up our gift card.
“That way the money can be spent in our town, boosting our economy.
“It’s also a great marketing campaign for our town. We’ll look at changing the photos on the card every so often as well.”
Also on the chamber’s agenda is its Christmas promotion, which is now underway.
More than $3000 in prizes are up-for-grabs this year, including the chamber gift cards worth $200 and a major prize of an all expenses paid holiday to Batemans Bay that includes spending money, fuel vouchers, Mogo Zoo tickets, accommodation and more.
There will be four weekly draws, with the first to be held on Saturday in Jarrah Mall at 10.30am and 11am.
The final draw will combine with a Christmas Family Market Day in Mountford Park.
This event will feature the Leeton Farmers Market, ham raffles, entertainment and businesses in the main street will be holding a “sidewalk bonanza” in a bid for shoppers to easily take care of those last-minute gifts.
All residents need to do to take part in the Christmas promotion is spend $30 at participating businesses. For every $30 one ticket will be issued, which then needs to be filled out and placed in the barrel at Jarrah Mall.
“We’re really trying to push that shopping in town angle and we think both of these promotions are a great way of doing so,” Mr Heffer said.
