Leeton hasn’t played an O’Farrell Cup match for some time after a draw discrepancy meant it was left out of last year's competition.
Wagga are the current Cup holders, with the Wolves the first side to challenge them this season.
Should they be successful, they will need to fend all other challengers from across the region in order to retain the Cup over the off-season.
The O’Farrell Cup has long been known as one of the most prestigious cricket competitions in the region, with Wolves captain Jarryd Day confident his side was up to the task.
“I think this team is one of the better ones we have had for a while,” he said.
“Hopefully it doesn’t change too much.
“We’ve got a lot of young ones in there, but there’s also some experienced guys in there too. It looks like a really good mix.”
Many of those selected haven’t played an O’Farrell Cup match before, but Day wasn’t fazed.
He said it would give the players a taste of higher-level representative cricket and was confident they would thrive.
“We definitely want to put in a better effort against Wagga than we have the last couple of times we’ve played them,” Day said.
“If it’s played at Robinson Oval I think that will help us as well.”
The venue for the match wasn’t due to be decided until Friday afternoon. The selected team features a number of all-rounders, which Day said would only work in his side’s favour.
“We’ve got some good bowlers in there that can also bat,” he said.
“A lot of the guys are in pretty good form at the moment. Hopefully we can get the job done.”
