Mr Walsh began his term as chairman late last year.
He has been a director in the business since 2012.
Mr Walsh will succeed Scott Hogan, whose term as chairman has expired.
Mr Hogan will remain on the board.
A qualified diesel mechanic, Mr Walsh has a partnership with Elders in its Coleambally branch and transport business, which he started in 1982.
He also operates a Coleambally-based fertiliser distribution business, which he opened in 1983.
He began farming in 2003 and now grows rice, cotton, soybeans, wheat, barley and canola.
Mr Walsh was looking forward to taking on the role.
“It’s an honour and privilege to be elected to the role of chairman of Southern Cotton and I am proud to have the opportunity to guide and grow this fantastic organisation in the coming years,” he said.
“The opportunity for cotton in the southern valley is unprecedented.
“I want to acknowledge Scott’s extraordinary contribution to the development of Southern Cotton and, the wider cotton industry in the southern valley, during his four years of service as chairman.
“I look forward to continuing our work together on the board.”
Southern Cotton would like to thank outgoing shareholders and directors Gerard and John Toscan, for their dedication and contributions to Southern Cotton.
The company wishes them all the best in their future endeavours.
