Those are the words of Leeton’s O’Farrell Cup captain Jarryd Day heading into this weekend’s game against West Wyalong.
Last Sunday the Wolves successfully defeated Griffith in their O’Farrell Cup challenge to have the cup back in Leeton for the first time in some years.
However, Day wasn’t content with just defeating Griffith.
“We definitely want to keep winning,” he said.
“Winning it once is great, but we want to keep hold of it now.”
Sunday will be a different scenario for the Wolves when they take on West Wyalong at Mark Taylor Oval (MTO).
The home-ground advantage will come into play and, with no games to be played at MTO on Saturday, the curator will have plenty of time to get the pitch just right.
Leeton and West Wyalong met in December in the Creet Cup competition, with the match ending in a draw.
The Wolves have made some slight changes to their team since that clash, with West Wyalong also expected to add in one or two new faces.
“I would say West Wyalong might have one or two changes,” Day said.
“We’re the same, but we will have the same side playing on Sunday as we had last week.”
Day said the team had exceeded expectations last weekend in the relatively easy win over Griffith.
“I thought we bowled really well,” he said.
“There were still a few dropped catches, so we’ll have to watch that.
“Mitch Hardie batted really well and so did Brent (Lawrence). They really got in there and took the game away from them (Griffith).
“It’s going to be a different feeling this weekend.
“There’s still a bit of pressure there, but all the guys have played O’Farrell now, so that helps.”
With the game set to get underway at 10am on Sunday, Day was hopeful a decent crowd would turn out to support the home side.
“Hopefully we get a few down there to support us,” he said.
“When we’ve played before you usually get some of the guys come down that have played O’Farrell before and the older boys come down for a look.
“Hopefully we can get the win. We’ve just got to take it one game at a time.”
