Ms Fitzsimon, supported by her Light Up Leeton committee, was announced as the winning ambassador during a ceremony in Mountford Park on Saturday afternoon.
As overjoyed as she was, Madison Coeli’s enthusiasm wasn’t far behind as she was named the Highest Fund-raising Ambassador.
Fellow entrants Bulou Baravilala and Nadine Morton were far from forgotten though.
Ms Fitzsimon was at a loss for words after her name was announced.
“Honestly, it's just so overwhelming, I just can't even describe the feeling right now,” she said.
“Once we hit the stage I was a pretty nervous and then when I heard my name I just freaked out.”
Her nominated charity of choice, Leeton Breast Cancer Support Group is something particularly close to her heart.
“I chose the support group for for family reasons,” she said.
“Breast cancer has run through my family so I thought it would be a good opportunity to raise a bit of money for a great organisation.”
It’s not about the awards and accolades for her though, it’s what the four ambassadors accomplished for Leeton.
“I'm just so happy with what we've achieved,” she said.
“All of us ambassadors have done such a great job to raise all the money that we did.
“It was just great to be involved.”
The four lovely ladies collectively raised over $55,000 for Leeton during their four month campaign.
Ms Coeli raised close to $25,000 for her charity, Stepping out for Youth and was overjoyed with the support she received through it all.
“I'm very grateful to be here and raise money for such a great cause,” she said.
“I mean to raise as much money as we did for the community is really a great feeling. “I’d just like to say a massive thank you to my family and my committee, I wouldn't be here without them.”
