Close to $1 million has been allocated by the state government for the work, which will upgrade a 600-metre section of Irrigation Way about six kilometres north of Leeton.
A Roads and Maritime Services spokesman said the work would include reshaping the curve at the intersection of Saunderson Road and Irrigation Way.
“(This will) improve drainage and extend the bus stop pull-off lane to improve visibility and road safety,” the spokesman said.
Work was scheduled to start on Monday and is expected to be completed by the end of June, weather permitting.
Lane closures and a reduced 40 km/h reduced speed limit will be in place to ensure the safety of workers and road users during work hours.
The speed limit will revert to 80 km/h outside of work.
Property access will be maintained throughout the project under traffic control with signs and controllers in place to guide motorists.
Work will be carried out from 7am to 5pm during the week.
