Play for the Royal NSW Bowling Association’s No. 6 pennants will be held in town on Saturday and Sunday.
The RNSWBA is made up of 16 different zones that contest seven grades of pennants throughout the state.
All 16 zones will be represented at this year’s No. 6 play off that will be hosted by the Soldiers Club, as well as the Narrandera Bowling Club.
Leeton is in zone eight, which covers a slice of the map that runs roughly from Narrandera to Albury, as well as taking in Hay, Lake Cargelligo, Young, Tumut and Wagga.
All 16 zones draw on a large population and many bowlers.
All clubs will play three games, with the winners of each section of four to contest the semi-finals.
This will be followed by the finals.
The final will be played at Narrandera on Monday.
This event caters for a minimum of 230 players and officials.
Add to that family supporters and friends that will travel with the players and it’s a big influx of visitors to the district.
A real boon to the economy.
All sporting enthusiasts have been invited to spectate the action, which will be pretty well non-stop on the Soldiers Club greens all day Saturday and Sunday.
The individual clubs contesting this year’s event in Leeton and Narrandera are:
- Narrabri (zone 3)

COUNCIL LOOKING FORWARD TO STATE EVENT IN TOWN
LEETON Shire Council mayor Paul Maytom was looking forward to such a big event coming to town.
“Lawn bowls is a very popular sporting activity in our shire and it’s great that Leeton shire will get the chance to host some of the best bowlers in the state for this event,” he said.
“The 230 competitors that will make the trip to Leeton will provide a significant injection into our local visitor economy as they also bring their partners and other family members to enjoy the various regions that they visit on an annual basis.”
Bowls NSW chief executive officer Greg Helm said the organisation was pleased to have the support of Leeton and Narrandera Councils as part of the event.
“It is most pleasing to be able to present such a prestigious event in our leading regional centres,” he said.
“It is also pleasing to be able to give clubs such as Leeton Soldiers Club and Narrandera Bowling Club the opportunity to showcase their facilities to visiting players.”
