That’s the concept four Leeton High School year 12 students will be facing next week when they have their heads shaved and legs waxed.
Their efforts won’t be in vain, with all funds raised for their bravery going straight to the Leeton Can Assist branch.
Jack Robbie, Zac Hanlon and Hannah Keith will all be having their hair shaved off, while Shaun Muller will have his legs waxed.
Zac will be going the double when he too has his legs waxed.
Every year each Leeton High year 12 class chooses a charity to support.
Having decided on the Leeton branch of Can Assist, the students have thrown themselves into fundraising efforts throughout 2016.
They’ve held barbecues at different school events and will be donning costumes to collect money from business houses towards the end of this term. However, the head shaves and leg waxes will be their most daring fundraiser to date.
“We set out with milestones to determine just how much hair would be shaved off,” Zac said. “It was also said if a certain amount was raised then we would do the leg wax as well.
“We’ve managed to already reach those targets, so anything else now is a bonus. The three of us getting our head shaved will have it go down to a ‘number one’.”
While the trio having their heads shaved admitted they were slightly nervous, they said they took comfort in the fact they would be helping others.
“It’s a really good cause and hair grows back,” Hannah said. “I think I’m more worried about how cold it’s going to be.”
Zac has shaved his head once before for a similar cause, while Jack was slightly concerned about how his new style would turn out.
“I’ve been growing my hair for a pretty long time,” he said.
“I’m a metal head, so my head banging isn’t going to be much use without hair.” Shaun was roped into having his legs waxed, but said once the initial pain was over he wouldn’t be bothered.
The shave and waxing will take place at the school on August 4 at 1.30pm. Donations can be made on the day or via the direct deposit at BSB Number: 633 000 and account number 15778 5163.
