Mr Ierano explains why he threw his hat into the ring and what he hopes to achieve should he be elected on September 10.
1 Why did you decide to nominate as a candidate?
I was born and raised in the wonderful community that is Leeton.
The opportunity to become an active member of our town excites me, as I would like to give back to the people of the Leeton community.
2 What do you think makes a good councillor?
A good councillor is someone who keeps the interests of the town and its community first.
They show leadership, determination and passion for managing and planning the bright future of our town.
3 What attributes do you bring to the role?
As a working member of society for the past 42 years, I bring my experiences and knowledge of management of the land and small businesses.
I am also a member of a range of local committees and groups, demonstrating that I have effective communication skills and enjoy working as a team.
4 What do you hope to achieve if elected?
I hope to gain an understanding of the wants and needs of our diverse community members.
In doing so, I strive to implement changes for a positive and sustainable future for Leeton.
5 What do you see as the greatest issues facing Leeton shire?
The most important aspects of any small community are its people and their businesses. Our business owners work hard to provide goods and service to the community of Leeton.
I believe that shopping locally, promoting local businesses and improving the economy is an issue that requires our attention in order to strengthen our town.
6 Why should people vote for you in this election?
I am a strong community-minded individual who will always put the needs of the Leeton shire first. Members of the community will be able to relate to me as I have lived in Leeton all of my life and my passion is to see my home town thrive.
7 Anything else you would like to add?
I have the commitment and passion to fulfill the role of councillor to support and strengthen our town. Vote one Michael Ierano.
The most important aspects of any small community are its people and their businesses.
