Held in Griffith today and the Yanco Agricultural Institute and on Saturday, the event will showcase the growing industry.
Delegates will also visit some of the shire’s fish farms.
Aquaculture is a growth industry that provides employment in regional areas and is a sustainable investment opportunity.
In 2015 the NSW aquaculture industry was worth $61 million. Aquaculture accounts for 40 per cent of total gross value of production for Australian fisheries with aquaculture worth approximately $1 billion in 2013-14.
Murray cod is the fastest growing aquaculture sector in NSW, growing in volume by 106 per cent in 2015 with production close to 300 tonnes.
Funded through the Murray Darling Basin Regional Economic Diversification Program, the Freshwater Native Fish Association (FNFA) and NSW Aquaculture Association have organised the event with input from the NSW Department of Primary Industries.
Various scientists, stakeholders, managers, industry representatives and farmers will be attending.
