Many residents participated in “get on your bike Leeton” as part of Leeton Shire Council’s NSW Bike Week event.
Children of a variety of ages enjoyed the free bike information safety session presented by council’s road safety officer Kym Snow, which covered safety topics, appropriate clothing and footwear, riding on footpaths and more.
Miss Snow said participants were also able to put into practice what they had learned with guided riding on the bike training facility.
“It was great to see so many enthusiastic bike riders enjoying the event at the bike training facility,” she said.
“The children were keen to learn, asked a lot of questions and learned very quickly.
“It was a fantastic day enjoyed by all.”
Participants received a free Bike Week sample bag with bike safety information, drink bottle, back pack and sunscreen.
They were also received tyre repair kits, bike pumps and bike bags.
After the event participants took the opportunity to continue practicing what they had learnt riding on the bike training facility, bike paths and riding home.
NSW Bike Week is an annual celebration of cycling, encouraging people from all walks of life to get on a bike and ride. The initiative included many activities across the state and wrapped up on Sunday.
