Calleigh O’Brien and Alayna Croucamp have had their art work selected to be part of the prestigious Operation Art exhibition in Sydney.
Both completed paintings in the classroom, with Calleigh’s titled Dawn and depicting the colours of the morning and took plenty of skill to complete.
Alayna used the season of autumn as her inspiration.
Their teachers then selected those pieces to be considered for the Operation Art exhibition.
Parkview Public School principal Travis Irvin said the students had been ecstatic when they discovered their work had been chosen for the event.
“It’s pretty rare to have one student’s work selected, let alone two,” he said.
Operation Art is an initiative of the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in conjunction with the Department of Education.
Both girls have decided to donate their pieces to the hospital at the completion of the exhibition at the end of October.
They have also travelled to view their work on display as part of the exhibition.
“It’s really exciting,” Calleigh said.
Alayna agreed and said she would like to continue painting for many years to come.
“I love it, it’s really fun,” she said.
