The Murrumbidgee River hasn’t moved much in the past week at Euroley, but depending on how much rain is received in the coming days, it could creep up further next week. By the end of Friday, at least 25 to 30 millimetres of rain was expected to fall in Leeton.
Bud Morris from the Leeton State Emergency Service said the Mirool Creek further north was one of the main concerns for the region. He said Roach’s Regulator at Yanco, which caused big concerns in the 2012 floods, wouldn’t serve as an issue this time around.
“Murrumbidgee Irrigation have been really proactive and created some extra ‘air space’ there,” Mr Morris said. Before the predicted rain, Leeton has had 114.4mm fall this month.
