Member for Murray Adrian Piccoli was in town last week to announce the Leeton Junior League Football Club, Leeton Little Athletics and the Leeton Junior Cricket Association would receive close to $41,000 for the construction of a new storage shed.
The shed will be constructed at the Leeton High School ovals.
Leeton Junior Rugby League president Scott McDonald said the funding couldn’t have come at a better time.
“We’ve been chasing funding for the last couple of years,” he said.
“It’s going to be a three-bay shed, split into three sections, so each of the groups will have their own area.
“It’s definitely good news.”
At this early stage, McDonald wasn’t sure where the shed would be placed at the ovals, but said it would provide numerous benefits.
He said further funding opportunities were also being looked at for the installation of a new septic system, toilets and showers.
The funding was provided under the state government’s housing community improvement fund.
The Rotary Club of Leeton will also receive about $6200 for lighting at Gossamer Park.
“This is round two of the grants with round three opening in early 2017,” Piccoli said.
“The fund has already made a huge difference in ... communities across the state.”
