There were plenty of exciting activities on offer, including pony rides, a flower show, two-course lunch and even an opportunity to toss water-soaked sponges at Reverend Richard Keith for a gold coin donation.
The overall goal was to offer an exciting event to bring the community together and easily hit the fundraising mark.
It’s about getting the community together.
- Reverend Richard Keith
Families from around Leeton and some from as far away as Wagga came to enjoy the festivities.
“It’s been good,” said Reverend Richard Keith.
“It’s not just about raising money for charity, it’s about getting the community together.
“Not just our community, but the whole community, that’s what it’s about.”
Resident Graham Russell offered his long locks on the day to be shaved in order to raise money for Can Assist.
St Andrew’s fete is vital in promoting the importance of a close-knit community, according to helper on the day, Alan Chesworth. Mr Chesworth said there were many highlights as a result.
“All the people who come out, the general good feeling, the camaraderie and everybody’s happy,” he said.
This was the first year St Andrew’s also combined their flower competition with St Peter’s Anglican Church.
