The Riverina’s most lucrative race needs a new timeslot after Harness Racing NSW announced changes to the two-year-old season.
The changes will prevent juvenile racing until January 1, which clashes with the historical running on the Leeton feature.
The Leeton Harness Racing Club was given one final year to run their heats over the traditional Boxing Day timeslot before the final on New Years Day before deciding on a new date.
Leeton secretary Joanne Punch revealed Leeton has to meet with other club across the state who would be affected by the change this week before finalising the new time.
“Once we get that meeting organised (with the other clubs) hopefully that will be it,” Punch said.
Nominations for the $40,000 feature close on November 1.
