Not only did McLean return the figures of 4/2 with the ball, but those figures also included a hat-trick.
He also chipped in with 19 runs with the bat.
The Ferrets put on 119 runs for the Phantoms to chase down at No. 2 Oval on Saturday afternoon.
Other notable scores for the L&D CC included Dayne Butler with 30, Dylan McKellar on 14 and Caleb Watson hit his way to 11 before Phar Nicholson took his wicket.
In reply the Phantoms could only manage 67 runs in the chase as players worked their way through the cobwebs built up over the off-season.
McLean was the star of the show for the Ferrets, with Oswald Herrmann (17), Joshua Elworthy (3), Tye Studholme (0) and Max Findlay (0) all falling to his powerful bowling display.
Cooper Carter managed 18 runs to make him the top-scorer for the Phantoms on the day, with Oswald close behind with his 17.
Angus Crelley also fired for the Ferrets with his four wickets off 10 runs also proving a big highlight for the team.
