With this in mind, the Leeton Calo’s Riders Club will host a charity dice run to raise money for the late Sam Hehir’s family.
Mr Hehir, 22, died in a blaze that also destroyed his family’s Almond Road home last month.
His family lost not only a beloved son, but all of their possessions in the fire.
The Calo’s Riders Club has approached Mr Hehir’s father to gain his permission to host the dice run, which will be held on Saturday.
Club member Pat Vecchie said the organisation wanted to throw its support behind the family.
“It’s all part of the Mate Helping Mate program that we are already involved with,” he said.
“When times are tough for someone in this town, we get behind them. That’s exactly what we want to do here.
“We’ve asked Sam’s father whether he would mind us holding the event and he said that was fine.
“We’ve done things like this in the past, so hopefully it’s well supported.” With the weather shaping up for the weekend, Saturday may provide the perfect day out for a ride.
Mr Vecchie said so far there had been plenty of interest.
“I’m not too sure how many we will get, but we would love to get 100-plus bikes taking part,” he said. “That would be fantastic.
“We don’t have a goal set for how much we raise, just whatever we can get. It will all help.”
All cars and bikes are welcome to take part on the day, with a bus to also be part of the event for those not wanting to drive or ride. There will be raffles on the day and live music provided by Mark Smith on return at Mountford Park.
Mr Vecchie said Leeton residents always got behind those in need when the time came.
“Just look at what happened with all of the Stephanie Scott stuff,” he said. “It’s what we do.”
Registrations will be held at Mountford Park from 9am on Saturday, with the ride to leave at 10am. It will be $25 per hand or $15 for those on the bus.
