THEY may be competitors in a business sense, but if it’s one thing public relations powerhouses Lynsey Reilly and Liane Sayer-Roberts agree on, it’s that Leeton women are “punching above their weight”.

The pair recently returned from the Public Relations Institute of Australia’s Golden Target Awards where they both picked up national awards.
Lynsey Reilly Communications took out the micro consultancy of the year category, while Mrs Sayer-Robert’s business Sauce Communications won the medium consultancy of the year award.
Both women run their businesses from Leeton after starting them up themselves and each handles PR for major companies from across the country.
Mrs Sayer-Roberts said it spoke volumes of what can be achieved while working in a regional area.
“You no longer have to be working in the city,” she said.
“Regional areas are really starting to pick up.
“I never expected to be where I am today after starting in my study at home in Leeton.” The pair agreed technology continued to play a big part in the success of many businesses in Leeton.
Mrs Reilly said she was constantly amazed by what women were achieving in Leeton.
“Women in Leeton are definitely ‘punching above their weight’,” she said. “It’s probably something a lot of people aren’t aware of.
“There are many women in our community that have successful businesses and are really doing well for themselves.”
Both Mrs Reilly and Mrs Sayer-Roberts have been able to adapt their respective businesses to give them what they view as an ideal work-life balance.
The pair both have children and are still able to run their national award-winning enterprises, while taking their children to school and not missing out on any of the major milestones.
“Living and working in a town like Leeton has opened up so many doors, not the opposite,” Mrs Sayer-Roberts said.
The pair both urged young women leaving school to think about their career options and possibly returning to Leeton on the completion of their study.
“The thing I really love doing is putting clients out there,” Mrs Reilly said. “There’s so many wonderful things happening in our region and we get to help put them (and Leeton) on the map.”
I never expected to be where I am today after starting in my study at home in Leeton.
