With that in mind, Leeton UnitingCare and the town’s Target store have again teamed up to ensure all residents have something to smile about this Christmas.
This year the two organisations have called on the community to head down to the store and purchase a $1 gift tag or give an unwrapped present for the shire’s families in need this festive season.
Through the generosity of customers, organisers hoped to raised $1.5 million to support UnitingCare’s community service programs.
Leeton UnitingCare co-ordinator Priscilla Hester said 2016 had been a tough year for families facing issues of unemployment and increased living costs. She said last year the appeal helped to support 45,000 families across the country.

“Fortunately we have so many generous people in our community,” Mrs Hester said.
“We’re relying on them to dig deep, show compassion and support our appeal this Christmas.”
UnitingCare provides support to older residents, young people and their families, those with a disability and more.
The appeal will run through until December 24 at the store.
