The shire’s real estate agents have reported the market is either heating up or holding steady as the end of the year approaches.
Glenn Preston from Glenn Preston Real Estate said he continued to have requests for inspections of homes for sale every day.
“The weekends have been busy with open homes and this week is looking pretty packed with inspections,” he said.
“I find at this time of year the market isn’t cooling off at all.
“There’s no signs of it slowing down (in Leeton).
“It’s across the board in terms of interest.
“We’ve got first-home buyers, people that are upgrading and investors all wanting to buy.”
There also continues to be a squeeze on the shire’s rental properties, with only a limited amount on each agent’s books.
Breed and Hutchinson sales consultant Carl King said many properties had been sold only recently.
“There’s been a bit of selling … it will probably cool off over Christmas and into January,” he said.
“New listings are what we need now as there’s still plenty of demand.
“People are still coming in and inquiring, particularly for the top-end of the market.
“More people are upsizing I guess.”
Traditionally many businesses across Leeton shire experience a quiet January when families are away for the school holiday break.
However, Amato Real Estate principle Gino Amato envisioned a change in pattern for 2017.
“It may not come about, but I’m thinking it’s still going to be quite busy come January,” he said.
“At the moment there’s not much supply in terms of homes for sale, but the demand is there.
“In the past it’s always been busy, but perhaps not quite so much this far into December. I think we’ll have a small period that will be quiet, but Ii’m of the view we may experience a busier than usual January.”
