“A bit of community service is a great thing about Rotary.”
- Mr Neil Ditton
The food for the breakfast was provided by the Leeton Shire Council and prepared by the Rotary Club of Leeton.
The Rotarians prepared bacon, eggs and sausages to welcome the early risers eager to claim the best spots for the morning’s ceremony.
They expected to prepare breakfast for close to 300 people and as the bacon sizzled on the barbecue, the line steadily grew.
The breakfast is a labour of love for the Rotarians, who after more than ten years still enjoy preparing the morning feast for the community on Australia Day.
The Australia Day breakfast is a highlight for the Rotarians.
Leeton Rotary Club’s community service director Neal Ditton was pleased to do his part.
“We enjoy it,” Mr Ditton said.
“A bit of community service is a great thing about Rotary.”
Giving back to the community is one of the core values of the Rotary Club and events like the Australia Day breakfast are one of the things that make it extremely enjoyable.
“We all get in and have a bit of fun while we do it,” Mr Ditton said.
