As part of Thursday’s official Australia Day proceedings, the group took part in a citizenship and naturalisation ceremony.
Prem Vipin, Mu Dah, Dennis Jenita Jumamil, Sayed Nazim, Kulwant Rai, Jocelyn Batucan Oram, April Vhern Batucan Tabal, Bernardo Junior Batucan Tabal, Jovern Batucan Tabal and Vanisa Batucan Tabal.
Mayor Paul Maytom conducted the ceremony and was pleased to welcome the shire’s newest residents.
“Citizenship is a common bond that unites all Australians, whether they are Australia’s traditional inhabitants, first generation migrants or the descendants of earlier settlers,” he said.
“Our rich heritage stems from the contributions made by us all. Our ceremony today recognises citizenship is a common bond made meaningful as it embraces an understanding and rights of all people.”
The group read the citizenship pledge in unison and were presented with certificates on the day by Member for Murray Adrian Piccoli.
