A farmer on Cantrill Road noticed a blaze near the property he was working on late on Friday evening.
According to police, at first he thought nothing of the blaze, thinking it was someone burning off.
However, after deciding to check, he soon found a white Toyota Hilux utility to be fully engulfed by flames.
Griffith Local Area Command Inspector Kim Traynor said he contacted authorities, who raced to the scene about 8.15pm.
She said the Rural Fire Service, police and Leeton Fire and Rescue NSW attended to bring the blaze under control.
“They were able to extinguish the fire pretty quickly,” she said.
“While looking into the vehicle’s history, police discovered it had been sold just a few days prior.”
