Meagan Crelley has started as principal at Leeton High School this term and said she had many goals she would like to achieve in the coming years. 

Mrs Crelley comes to LHS from Coleambally Central School where she was at the helm for two years. 

She has also been principal at Batlow Technology School and worked at a number of other schools during her career. 

Mrs Crelley has five children and all are attending school in Leeton shire. 

She said she was working on getting to know all of the students and staff at LHS to help build a solid platform for te future. 

“For me it’s not just about being successful academically,” Mrs Crelley said. 

“It’s about doing what we can to achieve a well-rounded outcome both in the classroom and out of it for students. 

“That may be in the areas of arts, sports and vocational pathways, but we also want to be looking after our students’ interests and wellbeing.”

Leeton High already has plenty on the agenda in 2017 to ensure students are achieving, but also wanting to learn and be part of that process. 

Rehearsals are already underway for a major musical stage show later in the year, a group of students will be travelling to Japan in December and more. 

“Those are just some of the bigger things happening this year,” Mrs Crelley said. 

“What I want to see is every student being active in whatever it is they are undertaking at Leeton High School.”

Mrs Crelley said being principal wasn’t something she had originally aspired to when first starting out as a teacher. 

However, through a number of different opportunities, she found leadership to be a thrilling challenge. 

“Sometimes you do miss being in the classroom with the students, but I do enjoy being principal just as much as I did being a teacher,” Mrs Crelley said. 

“So far I’ve really enjoyed Leeton High. 

“I had already been living in Leeton prior to becoming principal. One of the best things so far is how welcoming the students, parents and staff have been.”
