The warning comes after a woman left her wallet unattended on a table near the dance floor at a Leeton hotel about 12.30am on Saturday.
The wallet was left unattended for only a short time, but after returning to retrieve it, the woman discovered it had been taken.
Griffith Local Area Command Inspector Kim Traynor said a number of similar incidents had happened at licensed premises across the area in the past month.
“Police are reminding people to never leave their valuables, particularly wallets and mobile phones unattended when they are out,” she said.

She woke about 1.30am on Sunday at the Frank Street home due to a fire alarm sounding.
The woman checked her house and found a fire in a hallway linen cupboard.
