St Peter’s Anglican Church has a big week of events scheduled, starting on Sunday with a harvest festival celebration.
Bishop Rob Gillion will be attending a special mass as part of the occasion at 9.30am where the aim will be to give thanks for the produce grown in the region.
“As well as all the farmers, agronomists, horticulturists and those that make it happen … I think it’s easy to take it for granted these products will just pop up on the shelves,” Father Robert Murphy said.
Heading into Lent, Shrove Tuesday will be marked with a pancake supper and the 30th running of the pancake relay.
This will be at St Peter’s Hall from 7.30pm. “It’s always very popular,” Fr Robert said. Ash Wednesday will be marked by three services, with one at 7.30am, 10am and 6pm to cover all bases.
Fr Robert will also be in the main street offering residents a blessing and bestowing of the ashes. The event is known as “ashes to go”.
