Several properties are currently under threat.
RFS units are at the scene and are issuing watch and act warnings for nearby residents, while police have closed Kidman Way to traffic.
Fire fighters are being assisted by aircraft, with the RFS calling in one of the largest craft in its fleet ‘Thor’to take on the blaze.
The blaze up to 11am burned 100 hectares of grassland and south-westerly winds are threatening to cross Kidman Way to the west.
The RFS expects winds to change direction during the afternoon potentially pushing the fire towards Griffith, posing possible threats to homes in Tharbogang.
Residents are being urged to listen to the advice from fire crews throughout the morning and afternoon and be prepared for evacuation.
The RFS also recommends nearby residents enact their bushfire survival plans.
Advice warnings have also been issued for fires burning norht of Goolgowi and on Brogden Road, Griffith.
