ACTION on the crease continued to heat up over the weekend as the 2016-17 Leeton District Cricket Association season is draws closer to the end.
Narrandera v Yanco 35s
Narrandera decimated the Yanco 35s on Saturday in a match neither side will soon forget.
Steady with the bat, Narrandera saw five of seven batsmen break double digits.
Ashley Cabban (61) led the runs but Ian Donaldson (40) and Jono Schofield (46) were not far behind.
Yanco’s bowlers struggled to gain traction and with the bat, the story didn’t change for the 35s.
Their batsmen unfortunately fell flat as Narrandera’s consistency carried through to a 152-run B grade victory.
Phantoms v Yanco
The Phantoms hit hard and held fast to gain a win over the Stags on Saturday.
In spite of Yanco’s Jordan Camm (3/12) and Hayden Emerson (3/19), the Phantoms were able to hit for 98.
At the bat, Yanco were determined to gain ground.
Jordan Camm hit for 34, but was the lone Yanco batsman to gain solid ground for the Stags.
The Phantoms’ George Clark claimed four wickets while conceding only 27 runs.
The strong show helped keep the Stags from closing the gap and the Phantoms had the win by 10-runs in B grade.
L&D v Yanco
While Yanco led off to a good start they underestimated the Ferrets drive and wound up being bitten in the end.
Yanco led off on the front foot thanks to large contributions from Josh Lanham (40) and Cooper Steele (39).
Consistent bowling from L&D made gaining every run a challenge.
After 148-runs, Yanco sent L&D in to chase.
The Ferrets had the power and consistency to push right back.
Only three of their batsmen failed to hit double digits and Mathew Axtill (49) nearly broke the half century mark in spite of Yanco’s Jyh Doyle (3/38).
Axtill’s contribution helped L&D claim the C grade win by three wickets.
Narrandera v Phantoms
The Carpheads led on the front foot and fought to gain ground on their home turf, gaining 106 runs in nine wickets.
Off the chain and bat in hand, the Phantoms easily claimed the C grade victory with six wickets still in hand.
