Just like at Kapooka the week before, Leeton came out on top in the men’s while CSU proved too strong in the women’s sevens event.

The Phantoms put in a dominant performance to take down the Steamers in the final while the Reddies girls didn’t let in a single point on the way to taking out the title.

The Phantoms and Dianas have been training hard in the lead up to the season proper, as well as the upcoming Southern Inland Rugby Union pre-season competition in Leeton on April 1. 

Both teams are under the tutelage of new coaches in Marika Vunibaka and Junior Loaloadravu. 

Following the first tournament win at Kapooka, Vunibaka along with forwards coach Matt Allen were hoping to get more match fitness on the board at Cootamundra. 

The Phantoms are still on the hunt for a front rower for the upcoming season, which starts on April 8.

THE Leeton Phantoms Junior Rugby Club will be holding its registration day on Saturday.

Both boys and girls have been encouraged to sign up in their age groups.

The registration will take place from 9am to noon at McDonald’s. All players need to bring a birth certificate.
