Team Triple Ohh competed in the recent Riverina Redneck Rally and were named the “winners” after raising the most money out of all of the vehicles taking part. 

Paramedic Peta Sinclair and highway patrol officer Rob Petrucci were able to raise $12,000, earning themselves the enviable title. 

The rally started in Darlington Point on March 18 and finished up in Wagga last Wednesday, all in the name of raising funds for Country Hope. 

The rally took in about 2500 kilometres, winding its way from Darlington Point through outback NSW and Queensland. 

Many small communities also benefited from the rally thanks to the overnight stays resulting in an injection into those town’s economies. 

Mr Petrucci said the pair loved every minute. 

“I think we decided before we even started we would do it agian next year,” he said. 

This year was the first time the rally has been held, with the Leeton team already back fundraising for the 2018 event. 

Six Leeton shire families currently benefit from help and assistance given by Country Hope, which is what has driven Team Triple Ohh to take part again. 

Country Hope covers the Riverina and Murray region with family-centred support programs for children diagnosed with cancer and life-threatening illnesses. 

Contributions to Country Hope helps to provide emotional assistance to their families, as well as aiding with medical costs, emergency funds, after-care support and much more. 

“The whole experience was just fantastic,” Mrs Sinclair said. 

“I think we both went in not knowing what to expect, but we just loved it.”

Overall the rally raised $118,000 for Country Hope. 

Another Leeton resident in Michael Blacker, also a police officer, participated by offering his mechanical skills. 

“They were up to 2.30am in the morning fixing cars sometimes,” Mrs Sinclair said. 

“Being that they didn’t have much equipment to work with, it was unreal what they could do to get the cars going. 

“There were coke cans being used and everything.”

Team Triple Ohh was hopeful more cars from Leeton would take part next year. 

“Just the whole camaraderie was wonderful,” Mrs Sinclair said.

“If one team blew a tyre, everyone stopped and pitched in.

“We’re just blown away by all the support we had as well from our sponsors and everyone in Leeton.”
