Carramar has had three tablets donated to its facility from Leeton Communications so residents can link up with their families that don’t live in Leeton.
With busy lifestyles and other factors making it hard for some to travel to visit their loved ones in Carramar, the facility’s lifestyle co-ordinator Tanisha Griggs came up with a top idea.
She said it was never too late for residents to become “tech savvy” and approached the Leeton business to see how it could help.
“Most of us enjoy using the Internet to keep in touch with family and friends that live far and wide … it seemed to me the residents here should be able to do just that,” Miss Griggs said.
“We seem to take it for granted we can go online and chat or video stream with our loved ones ad keep up-to-date with their lives.
“However, without access to, or the knowledge about, modern technology it’s simply not possible.
“The project, although in its infancy, seems to be exciting for all.” Residents will not only be able to use the tablets to interact with loved ones, but to give their brains a work out through games and other apps.
It’s my job to help improve the lifestyle of the residents here.
