The Ferrets made the right call after winning the toss they elected to bat with a captain's knock coming from MacGregor.
The Ferrets didn’t have it all their own way early as they lost Paris Crelley (1) early to the bowling of Jock Yelland (3/17) with the score on five.
The wicket was a minor bump as Angus Crelley and MacGregor restored the innings with a partnership of 38.
Crelley was playing the supporting role for MacGregor, but with the score on 43, Crelley was caught off the bowling of Lachlan McMaster (2/23).
Mathew Axtill (2) and Mclean Crompton (2) fell cheaply before Caleb Watson joined MacGregor at the crease.
The pair put together a strong partnership of 97 runs between the two which saw the side pass the 150 mark before MacGregor was finally dismissed for 106.
The Ferret reached the end of their allotted overs with a massive total of 9/185.
It was always going to be a tricky chase for the Phantoms and the loss of Yelland (2) early didn’t help the cause.
McMaster (11) and Lachlan Hamilton (4) tried to get their side moving in the right direction with a partnership of 20 before Hamilton was bowled by Axtill.
It was wickets at consistent intervals which cost the Phantoms in their pursuit of the big total as McMaster, Fraser Menzies (2) and Ryan Grieg (0).
Josh Elworthy (13) and Brad Daunt (12) were the only other batsmen to make double figures as the side struggled to put together regular partnerships.
Axtil was the picked of the bowlers finishing with figures of 3/24 off four overs while Crompton, MacGregor and Watson picked up two wickets each.
The Phantoms lost three of their last four wickets for eight runs with James Calaw (2), Rohan Lacey (0), Daunt falling in quick succession.
When Luke Brouwer was caught and bowled by Crompton, it brought the Phantoms innings to close with a total of 82 off 22.4 overs still requiring 103 for victory.
